For Tim Mercer growing up in the Deep South with very little financial resources was a humbling experience that taught him how to cherish every opportunity that came his way in life. He imbibed the qualities of being optimistic and hungry for success. “The challenges I faced growing up made me stronger and helped me understand the value of sacrifice, commitment and hard work,” he says. “I gained most of my leadership qualities from the military which taught me the value of team and gave me the skills I needed to be a leader of men and women.” Tim started IBOX in 2008 because he saw how information technology would forever transform the landscape of business on a global scale. IBOX provides technology solutions and managed services to small and medium sized businesses, government agencies and prime contractors. IBOX is a certified technology integrator that has the capacity, resources, capabilities and experience to support technology deployments of all sizes.

According to Tim, small businesses, like IBOX, are becoming disrupters within the marketplace because of how they use and leverage technology to grow. “We’ve been able to scale our company from zero to over $50M in revenue in less than 10 years with no outside capital investment and with a relatively small but very proficient team, due to the automated processes and technology we have.” IBOX takes a holistic approach to devising IT solutions for their clients. There are several aspects of a business or organization that are dependent upon each other to accomplish the overall goal or mission. Technology is just the bridge or glue that ties them all together. “The technical solutions we deploy must provide a return of investment for our clients, not just monetarily but also from an operational efficiency and value-add experience for the end users,” adds the steadfast leader.
IBOX’s team consists of experience and seasoned professionals with a broad range of skills in the areas of business and technology management. “We help our clients in various areas to include organizational change management, process optimization, technology enablement and managed services,” says Tim. IBOX engage its clients from a business perspective to ensure that the technology solutions being provided fits within the organizational framework and provides an immediate benefit that can be easily measured and evaluated.
For instance, they had a client who designs, builds and optimizes wireless networks which required them to generate various engineering specifications. The biggest challenge for the organization was their heavy dependency on manual processes and utilization of Excel spreadsheets. Each engineer operated in silo with no standardization to correctly configure over 4,000 unique engineering parts or drivers to generate a specification. IBOX was able to bring in a full team of resources from PMs, developers and consultants that help define project requirements across 9 business workstreams, provided the technical design for an automated engineering configurator, managed all project activities to include testing, deployment and end-user training. As a result, the client was able to realize standardized validation procedures and the automation of the entire workflow and process for generating specifications and quotes. Which ultimately increased the client’s revenue through the reduction of cost and lowering audit findings.
