“Making Significant Impact on Sales & Customer Satisfaction”

Dinis Cruz is CTO and CISO at Glasswall and has been responsible for transforming the engineering team, bringing in energy, freshness and inspiration. He introduced Wardley maps into the business, which has helped with team restructuring and strategising, while adding various core values, diversity, and interdisciplinary skills. As custodian of Glasswall security policies, Dinis highlights how security is everyone’s concern and introduced the Security Champions program, where every team has a cybersecurity representative.

Under Dinis’ leadership, the InfoSec team has grown and matured significantly. Dinis has incorporated a young team which has expanded to 8 security professionals armed with a brilliant tried and tested algorithmic process. He also established a new incident response team and created processes to guide the team, making the InfoSec team in charge of all business incidents. New incident playbooks have been created which has helped establish the root cause of all incidents, whilst facilitating the resolution and avoidance of future incidents. Static and Dynamic Code analysis were introduced to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), vulnerability lifecycle management, and hardened developers' images, which has taken Glasswall to new heights from a Security perspective.

"We are a file regeneration and analytics company, and a leader in the field of CDR: Content Disarm and Reconstruction"

“Across our entire engineering team, and specially in Security there is a massive ethos and focus on using technology and automation as effectively as possible.” The team has done an amazing job using technologies like Jira, Jupyter notebooks, Slack bots, Serverless Functions, Static Analysis, and Graph visualisations to improve existing processes and capabilities. “One of the key advantages of my role as both CTO and CISO is the ability to drive key security activities (like mandatory 2FA or Threat Modelling) and align security and engineering activities,” says Dinis. The Glasswall Security team has now reached a level of maturity that means they are now able to look into how they can improve and optimise non-security development and business practices, which is delivering improved ROI to the business.

Glasswall is passionate about making the world a safer place by delivering leading cyber security solutions for file protection with its award-winning Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology. Glasswall enables its customers to create safe, clean and visually identical files, mitigating the risk of malicious documents and ensuring users can safely open files without worrying about malware or leaking data, which may be hidden in metadata or comments. Glasswall patented engine uses the CDR (Content Disarm and Reconstruct) technology to construct, disarm, and rebuild files where necessary.

“My vision is to create a suite of scalable, cloud-native products around the Glasswall core engine and continue to ensure our products are user friendly and intuitive. We develop long term relationships with our customers, delivering superior customer satisfaction and value to their business,” adds Dinis.

Glasswall is responsible for ensuring its customers and users can safely open any files or attachments sent to them without the risk of malicious content, mitigating the risk of a high business impact ransomware or virus incident occurring. “We have very high-profile customers especially in the Government and Defence sector, who are targeted by sophisticated and motivated attackers,” explains Dinis. “By implementing Glasswall into their organisations, our customers are able to avoid becoming victim to sophisticated cyber attacks, maintaining their reputations and helping the security teams keep the business safe.”

Glasswall solutions are seamless and quick to deploy with minimal/no latency. It delivers file safety to customers taking the burden of cybersecurity from their employees. With a cloud engineering team and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, Glasswall provide instant customer support to its customers. “Sometimes during the implementation of our solution there can be obstacles associated with the cloud providers, but our engineering and support teams provide instant resolutions to engineering incidents,” explains Dinis.

Glasswall is available across a number of platforms and services including Email, Cloud and an SDK which enables customers to safely send files between untrusted and trusted networks. According to Dinis, the biggest achievement for Glasswall is supplying file safety and reassurance to a growing number of companies and agencies across the world. Glasswall security and engineering teams are also leading the way they share their knowledge and raise the quality and effectiveness of InfoSec. Current practices release as much content, technology, and ideas as possible under a Creative Commons and Open-Source license. “We are building a proxy for secure file download through websites. This innovative approach will have an immense impact in the cyber security world,” adds Dinis. “We will continue to innovate and introduce exciting new products over the coming months.”

Description

Glasswall is a unique technology that shifts the security paradigm of looking for the bad, to only allowing the ‘known good’ establishing an industry standard for electronic file and document integrity, security and assurance. By analysing and regenerating files in real-time, Glasswall gives protection against even the most persistent and complex file based threats. It changes what we know, how we think and how perceive security technology to work allowing organisations to take control and apply their own standards to every file that comes in and out of the organisation.
