Transforming the World with AI

Jeremy Harroch is nothing but creative. Being the CEO & Founder of Quantmetry, he launched way before anybody his Quantlab, a multi awarded private R&D laboratory where new technologies are set to better serve his clients and the society. Today he promotes a strong value in technologies that will shape the way we interact with algorithm: confidence. “An algorithm must be able to say I don’t know and expresses its limits to be fully accepted as trusted AI”.

Combining mathematics and ethics is the right way to push everyone in his team to pursue their freedom of thinking in anything they’re trying to achieve. This enables lots of fantasy and imagination in everything created collectively. According to Jeremy, creativity is of utmost importance when working in an innovative field, a new industry based on mathematics and computer science, also called data science, artificial intelligence, and big data.

As a leader for whom ethics is a number one priority, Jeremy strongly emphasizes anticipation and adaptation. “In everything that you do, sensing the flavor of the market makes you better understand how far you are from the right decision and if you’re running through your path at the rights pace.” he says. “It’s all about connections, speaking with other people, and having a network activity. This allows us to understand what happens in the market, to be able to understand better when we’re right or wrong, and follow the market trend when necessary.”

Armed with this brilliant mindset, Jeremy has been guiding and mentoring budding entrepreneurs. Each year, he supports 3 to 4 young entrepreneurs, where they meet monthly in Quantmetry headquarters to discuss the challenge they are facing. “I appreciate this part of my life as I also benefit from mentors or senior advisors in my everyday life. Support is key to success.

Furthermore, I also spend some time with students (especially students with a Master’s in entrepreneurship) to whom I give masterclasses,” he explains. “Two years ago, I decided to focus on a training organization that I have created: the Yotta Academy. Within this executive education university, we pinpoint that being good at theoretical knowledge is not enough for what the market is expecting concerning new technologies”. The leader of Quantmetry makes it his priority to guide his team towards attaining knowledge to enhance the company’s productivity.

The company is focused on low technology solutions to manage global and individual motivation (team spirit, the culture of sharing, and collaboration). This means that relationships between managers and managed people are strongly animated by training, coaching, and multiple measurement processes. This kind of management ensures that the best environment is provided to our experts in developing those new technologies.

Furthermore, one of the company’s strong convictions is that the AI field has reached maturity where the core question is no longer about demonstrating its potential but rather delivering its business value. It implies ensuring the proper level of reliability of AI systems to be deployed as part of critical enterprise processes. Quantmetry invest strongly in technologies that measure and control AI risks, such as bias mitigations, uncertainty measures, and explainability.” Quantmetry has decided to propose, with open-source packages (Mapie ou Shapash), a new paradigm of code for other companies that want to inspire their employees”.

The company has been able to anticipate one of the biggest changes in new technologies industry: the new regulation called AI Act (formally known as Confidence and Excellence in AI) by which the European Commission regulates companies to use automation and artificial intelligence in a trustworthy way.

In the days to come, Quantmetry plans to launch the first maturity assessment software for both projects and people in AI. “This is a huge task based on publications from the OECD, the European Union Commission Certification (like LabelIA), private companies like Bureau Véritas, but also from French public institutions like LNE and AFNOR,” explains Jeremy. “This software will settle how many projects should be improved regarding AI quality.”

Quantmetry has succeeded in building intellectual property to promote scientific articles allowing them to be part of international conferences and publish source code in open source. Today, the company is trying to change the world as they did in the past for the pharmaceutical industry, hospitals, and transportation.
