Kamran Jinnah, CEO, TekSynap, has been hailed as an energetic leader who believes nothing is achieved without enthusiasm. Kamran believes that one should emulate what they want from their organization as a leader. “If you want energy within your company, it begins with bringing that energy to every meeting. Transformation implies that what you have been doing isn’t working – leadership doesn’t transform, it is what is intrinsic in the way you want your company to look, feel, and be,” he elucidates. “Call it a vibe – some characterize it as culture. Culture with a positive vibe attracts more of the same – fight the urge to focus on what is wrong – focus on your path, hold up a light, and let it shine the way for you and your people.”

Being an industry expert, Kamran has always acted as a support system to the budding entrepreneurs who are out there trying hard to establish themselves. “I have always believed in paying it forward. At some point in my career, someone took the time to nurture and teach me as a leader – it is so important that we teach the next generation of leaders and managers,” he explains. “We don’t operate in an entrepreneurial industry – the innovation, or the ability to be an entrepreneur, exists in getting government customers to adopt new technologies and ways of doing business, without rocking the boat.”

As a steadfast leader, Kamran has learned numerous leadership lessons. One of his favorite sayings is from Ronald Regan -- “Trust but verify.” Kamran states that the quote can be applied to many different circumstances. “Leaders must hold the balance between allowing their people to make mistakes where they skin their knees and protecting them from a coming train wreck. But it is hard to know the difference between the two. For example, if an employee asks me, ‘why do you need to micro-manage what I am doing?’ My response to this kind of statement is resolute and firm but gives space for them to accept the response with an embedded challenge. In this case, my response would be, ‘When I feel that you have the handles of the motorcycle firm in your grasp – I’ll back away quickly.’ It is the same as teaching your kid to ride a bike – you aren’t going to let go of that seat until you are sure.”

Examples of innovative technology pilots developed and tested in TekXlerate include TRON, a new cognitive search capability for the NRC to sort and analyze large volumes of documents.

TekSynap created a Proof of Concept, titled TRON (Text Retrieval Optimization Nexus), using Cognitive Search and Public ADAMS documents, shown in Exhibit 8 below. TekSynap developed both a web-based and PowerApps interface with web targeting for general use cases and PowerApps for prototyping specific needs of power users. This technology solves a long-standing real-world problem for the NRC customer.

Team TekSynap piloted this AI, low code-no code initiative demonstrating the viability of a SaaS solution to modernize and re-platform NRC’s 25-year-old document management system.

The joint partnership with NRC and TekSynap created a powerful cognitive search tool for ADAMS that significantly improved the speed and accuracy of ADAMS searches wrapped in an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
