“The needs haven’t changed – just the delivery”

At Fisher Improvement Technologies, Rob Fisher, President, and Director of Operations, takes a comprehensive approach to enhancing individual and group performance. The company collaborates with businesses to ensure that its framework, tools, and practices support the highest levels of task performance. The company is renowned for its achievement in lowering fatalities and catastrophic life-altering injuries and improving quality and engagement.

Rob is an emotional person who likes to please others by nature; he listens to them and takes what they say into account. He doesn't blame but instead tries to figure out what happened and how it happened, not just who did it. Rob has just published his first book "Understanding Mental Models."

Our most significant achievement is becoming known globally as thought leaders and creating the practical application of the science and concepts related to human success and failure.

Improving companies and lives through the creative application of technology is our mission. We have had more than 350,000 students go through our workshops to date. Over 75% of our new work comes from people who have experienced our technology.

We don't treat other entrepreneurs as "competition." We feel like there is room in the world for improvement from whatever direction that may come from. In safety and human and organizational performance, there must be room for others to help all the companies.

When we create new technology, we'll be the first to implement it in our operations. Our organization creates excellent products, services, and we have amazing clients. Your team and clients will tell you when you are on the right track or off it. Everything is about the "WE." Though clients sometimes can be wrong, feedback is valuable for us, shares Rob.

When a client's safety isn't as robust as it could be, or even when they are at the top of their game, they come to us for help. Our holistic approach helps them reduce errors, and we help organizations integrate these concepts into their day-to-day work for sustainability.

We partnered with Equilibria to add the impact of personality tendencies to how we see and manage risk, adds Rob. And we use this integrated and advanced technology called Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations (AERO) to improve companies and lives! We created FIT Online, a go-to platform for education and content, and a free app illumitask READY that provides a pre-task briefing tool.

Rob tells us some of the following customer results:

Generation plants saw the human error-related startup trip rate go from an average of 17/year to 1 per year.

A large-truck factory saw a noticeable reduction in the paint line with far fewer quality returns, resulting in a higher output.

A large-constant-process manufacturing site identified exceeding $1.2m/yr. in documented savings for ONE process area and a 46% increase in employee engagement measures.

Quality and production managers identified one facility's $8M/yr. annualized savings.

A Plant Manager and HP Advocate, Area Kaizen, says working with FIT pushed an understanding of latent conditions and error traps causing excessive waste in metal flow. Our Plant had a number of quality issues, recordable incidents, and lost-workday injuries and needed help with problem-solving and causal analysis. With the integration of human performance concepts, the outcome was an increase in the reporting of error traps, reduced work document issues, increased pre-job briefings, improved quality of manager observations, and increased time of observation of critical systems.

Since HP was incorporated into our Visual Process Management system, there has been a $100,000 cost reduction this year so far.

Including HP in our Quality Systems, a Quality Manager explained that Recovery and Incident Rate are two crucial cost levers that were positively impacted and saved 3 million dollars annually by integrating HP into the process (~5 million Annualized Savings for every 1% improvement in recovery).

"We will eliminate future fatality risks to the greatest extent feasible to attain our goal of ZERO fatalities," says an Industrial Plant Manager. He adds that HP can positively affect cost reduction, production increases, waste elimination, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.

A Global Safety Director told Rob, "Employees BELIEVE that they are better protected from significant risks at our first three facilities and therefore they use the tools because it helps THEM."

A Human Resources Manager highlights a 75% reduction in the number of grievances filed against the company.

A Global Lean and Quality director says to Senior Staff: HP integration is a business decision that can positively impact cost reduction, waste elimination, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, reveal & correct vague work guidance and reduce fatality potential!

Rob states that they are expanding their technologies deeper into the airline, healthcare, and maritime industries that will be available 24/7, anywhere in the world. They also invited all to join them on online.improvewithfit.com. IE
