The team behind SystemOne, steered by Tony DAgostino, 24-year SystemOne veteran Operations Manager, includes licensed electricians, licensed voice and data technicians, project managers, estimators, and administrative support staff. Engineering solutions for the commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare/life sciences, and government/public works markets.

Emerging from the original Connecticut Blackbox Office in 1998 the core team still remains intact today. “To succeed in this business, you need to focus on your building and elevating your team and the ever-changing industry dynamics,” said Mascaro. Mascaro graduated from Cheney Technical High School in Manchester, Connecticut, and began working in electrical construction. He completed his apprenticeship and obtained his electrical license and begin working as an estimator. Realizing his strengths, he was promoted to a project management position. Mascaro states that the path to becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t the easiest, but he learned from his experiences and used them to his advantage.

Mascaro believes that trade school is an untapped resource for the younger generations and a resource that is needed across all trades in today’s environment. He credits Cheney Technical High School and his community for the success he has today. When he first began his career, he was given advice by a mentor, which was to teach by doing and have trust in your team to grow. Giving his team the knowledge though experience and an open communication flow are the best ways to excel their capabilities and build confidence.

Consistent communication and listening to his team and to clients is vital. He explains that if we don't communicate well on both sides it can lead to unmet expectations and effect performance outcomes. Mascaro consistently seeks input from his operations manager and his team to discover opportunities to increase operations and efficiencies. He suggests taking constructive criticism and adopting modifications make them all more successful. Mascaro advises being cognizant of all business aspects and claims that SystemOne communicates well with clients and explains project obstacles, timetables, and costs upfront.

Working together leads to better client solutions. He explains an instance when they had a large university project, and there were multiple project delays because of procurement issues, construction delays, and design changes. His team stayed focused and communicated; they scaled back the crew size and project managed it very closely to reduce costs when needed and to increase resources when warranted. Staying on budget is key, and his team was able to get it done!

As a company, they must focus on their strengths to continue to grow and succeed. Offering client value added services always keeps us in the front of their mind. He values integrity, excellent installations, and that last 5% of extra value. Always focusing on the details and never hesitate to exceed client expectations. Going the extra mile - a happy customer always return for more, in his opinion.
